The above image shows a boat club in Kerala and people waiting for the boats.
Now, look again! Does it look familiar to you? Yes, it is the Thampanoor bus stand in the capital city of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram, in the monsoon season. I got these images from a forwarded email that has been circulating for over one year or so. This keeps happening in every rainy season and it looks like nobody is doing anything about it. The roads have big potholes just after one week of heavy rains and the administration is not bothered.
Now check the image below. First I thought its the people who travel in that car got out to push it. But I was wrong. A friend tells me that there are a group of people waiting for 'customers' who get their cars stuck in the middle of the road so that they can 'help' them move the car and get paid for it. The politicians/administrators must be feeling proud to have provided an option for the citizens to find such an innovative way for self-employment.

hi jo,
even a drizzle can bring the capital city in to a stand still. it's not an isolated case of Trivandrum. most of the capital cities await flash floods during monsoon. two years back we witnessed the fascinating headlines: "Mumbai In Floods." and the next day carried a banner headline: "Banglore MUMBAID" and before the copy editors could come out with a more flashy headline, the city of Chennai was in complete floods!
Yeah, it is true that all of our metros have this issue. What a pity!
PS: "Bangalore Mumbaid" - should appreciate these copywriters. :-)
