One more day for Valentine's Day and the interesting thing is most of the people (or at least half) who celebrate it do not even know the story behind it. I read the story somewhere a while back, but I don't remember it as I write this and I'm not bothered about it. Well, people know at least one thing - it's a day meant for lovers.

Although many are not up to the idea of celebrating a specific day dedicated to their "valentines", their objections are based on different political views.

The communists are against Valentine's Day because 'it is part of globalization', but the local television channel of Kerala Communists, Kairali TV, has started the celebration already with a good animation on their website front-page with the poster/lover boy of Kairali channel - Santhosh Paali.

The right wing groups of Islam do not like V-Day, because it is 'imported from western culture', but their protest is based on religious grounds. Islamic organizations like SIO have already started online campaigning against V-Day.

The Hindutva right wing groups also do not like V-Day for almost the same reason - 'Intrusion of western culture into the great culture of India' - and moreover this celebration includes a Christian name, "Saint Valentine"!

The intellectual sum of the country are worried about V-Day because they think 'it is a product of consumerism' and this only helps a shopping spree.

The businesses know that they can make a heck of a profit with V-Day considering the fact that the target group is mostly youngsters who are not bothered about anything political (except a few) and the celebration doesn't have any religious shades. This can be helpful to have a vast and good market during this week, considering India has a religiously sensitive society.

As for me, I am just waiting to see the day when we celebrate Thanksgiving Day, Halloween and so on. When everyday becomes a special day, we will learn the importance of living a "normal" life.

dear JO .. First of all Happy Valentine's day to you :) .. Though lovers all over consider this as their day , I believe its a special day to let all your loved ones know that how much you love them :) , be it ur Parents, siblings, friends or your beloved :) . This is my opinion on V-Day :) .. and in this "no-time-for-myself" days ,you really need a day to slow down n tell ur loved ones that you do care abt them ,, ille ?? It's just another reason to celebrate & be happy :) .. hope u had a gud one !!

Every day is your day; please don't allow unwanted and unwarranted elements to munch a pie of it and destroy it. Address it with something that matters to you. There are millions dying all around; for them it is a day to escape the harsh reality; but not a day to give a frigging un-smelling red rose or a loony card to some one you drool upon. For heaven sake lets think of all those and stop addressing days with some loony “prefixes”

Everyday is the same day; Except the independence day! Not the day; we gonna sing vandemataram!

Now if you people dint understand, why i talked about Chelsea,West ham and all sorts; taking in to consideration; all of those happened on a day. If they all start addressing the day as theirs, I fill petrol, so i need to celebrate "Exxon mobill" day, as i smoke, i need to celebrate "Phillip morris" day; as i am a fan of Chelsea; i will be forced to celebrate a "Chelsea day" . I like West Ham coz they signed Carlos Tevez and Mascherano from Corinthians. Hey am almost dead "observing and celebrating" days, but i am forced to "observe and celebrate" a West Ham day! Gosh.. i sigh, if all these fell on a single day, how many shots would have i drank, how many hugs would have i made, which essentially would have put my deodorant to shame and my bathing soap fading as a small piece! "days" seems to be a pain in the wrong place! people. Lets stop observing "days" Except the earth day ( No need of AIDS day; right?. Please be careful of that vulnerable moment, I mean "be careful", It can be Fatal"!!).

valentines day is an obvious fallacy that has gripped the masses, it has turned out to be that day; when you feel this special itch of love. Why do we have that itch?

It is because this whole day is a jaggernaut, it earns many people money, for sure some poor in China would have made decent profit, for lots of Teddy bears and soft toys would have sold out. Now some rich in Europe and America would have also shared a pie of this. Inevitably to please the opposite sex, some would have hopped some shops. Spice merchants too, hotels they are a place of ruckus on these days, some candle makers, for a lot of candle light dinners would have happened.

Some roses would have lost their life too, but who cares, its us, who matters the most on this earth.

Resistance to Tyranny is obedience to god! I am saying that! :D
